Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Depart Nairobi early morning and drive south towards the Tanzanian border. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours via the Nairobi-Mombasa highway and Emali, with the landscape transitioning from highlands to semi-arid savannah.
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch with views towards Mount Kilimanjaro. On clear mornings and evenings, Africa’s highest peak reveals itself in all its snow-capped glory.
Afternoon game drive through Amboseli’s varied habitats—from the dried lake bed of Lake Amboseli to the marshes and swamps fed by Kilimanjaro’s underground rivers. Amboseli is one of the best places in Africa to observe elephants at close range; family groups often approach within meters of safari vehicles.
Dinner and overnight at your Amboseli lodge.
Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli
Early morning game drive when Mount Kilimanjaro is most likely to be visible. The elephants of Amboseli are among the best studied in Africa, with researchers following some families for over 50 years. Watch matriarchs lead their families across the dusty plains, young bulls sparring, and babies playing.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and time to relax by the pool or on your veranda.
After lunch, venture out for an extended afternoon drive. Explore the observation hill for panoramic views of the park and its wildlife. Visit the swamps where elephants, hippos, and buffaloes gather, surrounded by egrets, herons, and kingfishers.
Optional: Visit a Maasai village in the evening to learn about traditional pastoralist culture.
Dinner and overnight in Amboseli.
Day 3: Amboseli – Nairobi
Final early morning game drive as the first light illuminates Kilimanjaro. This is prime time for photography—elephants silhouetted against the mountain create images that define African safari.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
