Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Tsavo West
Arrive at Mombasa airport and drive to Tsavo West National Park (approximately 3 hours). The volcanic landscapes and diverse terrain make Tsavo West distinctly beautiful.
Arrive at your lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive exploring the park’s unique features—volcanic hills, lava flows, and varied wildlife habitats.
Dinner and overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 2: Tsavo West – Mzima Springs
Morning visit to Mzima Springs—crystal-clear pools fed by underground volcanic filtration. Watch hippos from the underwater viewing chamber and spot crocodiles, fish, and water birds.
Explore the Shetani Lava Flows—relatively recent volcanic activity creating stark black landscapes. The name means “devil” in Swahili.
Afternoon game drive through different sectors. Tsavo’s elephants, lions, and diverse wildlife provide excellent sightings.
Dinner and overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 3: Tsavo – Shimba Hills
Morning game drive in Tsavo before departing for Shimba Hills National Reserve (approximately 2.5 hours). The landscape changes from savannah to coastal rainforest.
Arrive at your tree lodge overlooking the waterhole. Lunch on the viewing platform.
Afternoon game drive searching for sable antelope—Shimba Hills protects Kenya’s only population. Elephants, buffalo, and leopard also inhabit the forest.
Evening wildlife viewing from the lodge as animals come to drink.
Dinner and overnight at Shimba Hills.
Day 4: Shimba Hills – Diani Beach
Morning game drive and visit to Sheldrick Falls. The waterfall cascades through dense forest—a beautiful and refreshing sight.
Return for breakfast before driving to Diani Beach (approximately 1 hour). Check into your beach hotel in time for lunch.
Afternoon at leisure on Diani’s pristine beach. The contrast from forest to ocean is striking—both equally beautiful.
Dinner at your resort.
Day 5: Diani Beach
Full day on the beach with various activity options:
- Snorkeling and diving on coral reefs
- Kite surfing and water sports
- Visit Colobus Conservation center
- Explore Kaya Kinondo sacred forest
- Dhow sunset cruise
Overnight at Diani Beach.
Day 6: Diani Beach – Excursion Day
Optional full-day excursion to Wasini Island (additional cost recommended). The trip includes:
- Dolphin watching in the channel
- Snorkeling at Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park
- Seafood lunch on Wasini Island
- Walk through the coral gardens
Alternatively, spend the day relaxing on the beach or exploring local attractions.
Overnight at Diani Beach.
Day 7: Departure
Final morning at leisure. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy the beach or take a final swim.
Transfer to Ukunda airstrip or Mombasa airport for your departure. Safe travels!
