Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Naivasha
Morning departure from Nairobi, driving northwest into the Great Rift Valley. The scenic route descends the escarpment with stunning views across the valley floor.
Arrive at Lake Naivasha, Kenya’s highest and most beautiful freshwater lake. Check into your lakeside lodge and enjoy lunch.
Afternoon boat ride on the lake. Glide past wallowing hippos, spot African fish eagles in the shoreline trees, and photograph diverse waterbirds—pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, herons, and jacanas.
Land at Crescent Island for a walking safari. Without predators, the island allows you to walk freely among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and various antelopes—a unique experience unavailable in most reserves.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha.
Day 2: Hell's Gate & Return
After breakfast, drive to Hell’s Gate National Park—one of few parks where you can walk or cycle among wildlife. Rent bicycles and ride through the park past grazing zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes.
Explore Hell’s Gate Gorge with a local guide, descending into the narrow canyon with its dramatic red cliffs, hot springs, and geothermal vents (this area inspired scenes in The Lion King).
Picnic lunch in the park before driving back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
