Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Depart Nairobi and drive north to Ol Pejeta Conservancy (approximately 4 hours). Ol Pejeta is East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and a model for successful conservation.
Arrive for lunch at your lodge. Afternoon game drive and visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary—home to orphaned chimps rescued from illegal trafficking (Kenya has no wild chimps, making this sanctuary unique).
Dinner and overnight at Ol Pejeta.
Day 2: Ol Pejeta – Rhino Tracking
Morning rhino tracking experience with armed rangers. Track black rhinos on foot through the sanctuary, learning about conservation challenges, anti-poaching efforts, and individual rhino identification.
Visit the enclosure housing Najin and Fatu—the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. Learn about groundbreaking efforts to save this subspecies through assisted reproduction technologies.
Afternoon game drive exploring Ol Pejeta’s excellent predator populations. Lions are regularly seen, and the conservancy supports healthy numbers of leopards, cheetahs, and spotted hyenas.
Dinner and overnight at Ol Pejeta.
Day 3: Ol Pejeta – Laikipia Conservancy
Morning game drive in Ol Pejeta for final sightings. The conservancy supports over 7,000 animals across 90,000 acres.
After lunch, drive to a neighboring Laikipia conservancy (travel time varies by destination). Different conservancies offer distinct landscapes and experiences—some more remote and exclusive than others.
Afternoon game drive exploring your new surroundings. Look for Laikipia’s endangered species—Grevy’s zebras, wild dogs, and reticulated giraffes.
Dinner and overnight in Laikipia.
Day 4: Laikipia Conservancy
Full day exploring the private conservancy. Morning walking safari experiencing the bush at ground level—an intimate perspective on wildlife and habitat.
Mid-day relaxation at the lodge. Many Laikipia properties are intimate camps with exceptional guides and personalized service.
Afternoon and evening game drive continuing into darkness for night wildlife viewing. Spotlight nocturnal species rarely seen on daytime safaris.
Farewell dinner in Laikipia.
