Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Laikipia Conservancy
Depart Nairobi and drive north to the Laikipia Plateau (approximately 4-5 hours). The journey passes through fertile highlands before reaching the open rangelands of Laikipia.
Arrive at your conservancy lodge for lunch. Laikipia’s private conservancies offer exclusive access and personalized experiences impossible in public parks.
Afternoon game drive exploring the conservancy. Laikipia supports healthy populations of elephants, lions, leopards, and the highest concentration of endangered black rhinos in Kenya. Grevy’s zebras, wild dogs, and rare antelopes also thrive here.
Dinner and overnight at your Laikipia lodge.
Day 2: Laikipia – Walking & Wildlife
Morning walking safari with an armed guide. Experience the bush at ground level, learning tracking skills, reading animal signs, and appreciating the smaller details invisible from a vehicle.
Return for brunch and mid-day relaxation. Many Laikipia lodges have excellent pools or viewing hides.
Afternoon game drive continuing into dusk. As a private conservancy, night drives are permitted—spot nocturnal creatures like aardvarks, civets, genets, and hunting predators.
Dinner and overnight in Laikipia.
Day 3: Laikipia Exploration & Conservation
Morning game drive focused on finding any species you haven’t yet seen. Laikipia’s guides are among Kenya’s best, often former trackers or rangers with deep knowledge.
Visit a community conservation project to understand how Laikipia’s model works—local communities benefit directly from conservation, creating incentives to protect wildlife.
Afternoon at leisure or optional activities—horseback riding, camel rides, or cultural visits are often available (some at additional cost).
Evening game drive as the sun sets over the Laikipia Plateau.
Dinner and overnight in Laikipia.
Day 4: Laikipia – Nairobi
Morning activity—final game drive or walking safari. Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Check out and drive to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon. Optional stop at the equator for photos.
