Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Depart Nairobi early morning and drive to Amboseli National Park. Arrive for lunch at your lodge with views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Afternoon game drive to introduce yourself to Amboseli’s landscape and wildlife. The park’s open terrain makes spotting elephants, zebras, wildebeest, and predators relatively easy.
Dinner and overnight at your Amboseli lodge.
Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli
Morning and afternoon game drives exploring all corners of Amboseli. Spend time at the swamps and springs watching elephant families drink and play. Look for lions, cheetahs, and hyenas on the open plains.
Mid-day relaxation at your lodge. Optional visit to a Maasai village.
Dinner and overnight in Amboseli.
Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park
After breakfast, depart Amboseli and drive east to Tsavo West National Park. The landscape changes dramatically—volcanic hills, rocky outcrops, and thick bush replace Amboseli’s open plains.
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive exploring Tsavo West’s unique features including the Shetani lava flows—relatively recent volcanic activity that created a stark black landscape now being slowly reclaimed by vegetation.
Dinner and overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 4: Tsavo West – Mzima Springs & Exploration
Morning visit to Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water emerges from underground volcanic filtration. An underwater viewing platform allows you to watch hippos and fish from below the surface.
Continue exploring Tsavo West’s diverse habitats. The park supports elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and diverse antelope species. Tsavo’s elephants famously appear red from dust-bathing in the park’s iron-rich soil.
Afternoon game drive focusing on the Ngulia area, known for leopard sightings and spectacular rock formations.
Dinner and overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 5: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park
Drive through the parks via the Mombasa highway to Tsavo East—Kenya’s largest national park. The landscape opens up into vast, flat savannah stretching to distant horizons.
Afternoon game drive along the Galana River, where crocodiles bask and elephants come to drink. Tsavo East’s open terrain makes for exceptional wildlife photography.
Visit the Yatta Plateau—the world’s longest lava flow—and Lugard Falls, where the Galana River squeezes through colorful rock formations.
Dinner and overnight in Tsavo East.
Day 6: Tsavo East – Nairobi
Morning game drive for final wildlife encounters. Return to your lodge for breakfast.
Check out and drive back to Nairobi (approximately 5-6 hours). Alternatively, transfer to Mombasa (approximately 3 hours) for beach extension or flights.
